Why Black Woman-Led Podcasts Are Important
It’s no secret that black women are often underrepresented in the media. We’re constantly bombarded with images and stories that don’t reflect our lived experiences. This can be highly damaging, especially for young black girls who are trying to navigate their way through a world that doesn’t seem to value them.
That’s why it’s so important that we have black women podcasters. These podcasts give us a chance to see ourselves represented in a positive light. They also provide an outlet for us to share our stories and connect with other black women who might be going through similar experiences. When we listen to these podcasts, we feel seen and heard in a way that we often don’t in mainstream media.
