Physical self-care doesn’t have to be hard or time-consuming. There are lots of simple things we can do every day to look after our physical well-being.
When we’re physically healthy, it shows in every area of our lives. We have more energy, we feel happier and more positive, and we can concentrate better. That’s why it’s so important to have some mindful physical self-care practices that we can rely on when we need them.

Prioritizing our physical health for black women is especially important because we often put the needs of others before our own. We’re also more likely to suffer from chronic stress and diseases like hypertension.

How to Incorporate Physical Self-Care Into Your Life
Now that we know why physical self-care is important, let’s look at some ways we can incorporate it into our life.

1. Getting Enough Sleep
Most people need around eight hours of sleep per night. Getting enough sleep or sleeping in is some of the best physical care anyone can do for themselves.
Consider going to bed and waking up at the same time each day to help regulate your body’s natural sleep rhythm.
Think of a time when you consistently went to bed on time and woke up feeling refreshed. Chances are, you had more energy throughout the day and felt better overall.
Do yourself a favor and commit to a regular sleep schedule.

2. Eating More Fruits and Veggies
Eating healthy is one of the most important aspects of physical self-care. Make sure to include plenty of fruits, vegetables in your mealtimes.

3. Drink Plenty Of Water

Now, I have to admit, finding a good meditation app hasn’t been easy because I’ve had issues with a lot of them making me sleepy, but I’ve recently fallen in love with one and it’s called Headspace.

When you’re feeling overwhelmed, or stressed, or to help mitigate the aforementioned symptoms, take a few minutes to yourself to relax and rejuvenate. This could mean taking a hot bath, reading your favorite book, or spending time outside in nature.
