As someone who takes their skincare routine seriously, it is scary spending so much money on skincare products with hopes to have “perfect skin.”
It’s also scary buying products and applying them to your skin only to find out that it’s actually doing more harm than good to your skin.
I am not a skin guru and I’m not going to sit here and pretend to be. You ever knew someone that has a natural hack for finding items that work for their skin?
Yeah, that’s not me. I mean, I’ve dabbled in one too many products trying to perfect my skincare morning and evening rituals.
What these skincare influencers don’t tell you is how much money you spend on trying their sponsored products.
My Skincare Journey
I was the girl that washed her face and kept it moving. I might have subscribed to St. Ives and Noxema trend but…..that’s it.
This time last year I had nothing but time on my hands and that is when I began doing deep research on my skin.
Every bloomer reading this knows what research I’m referring to. Sites like, google, YouTube, and Instagram has us glued to the skin while we all hope that the perfect product to exfoliate, cleanse, tone, and moisturize our skin works.
I’m excited to share with you the list that has changed my skin. More than 50% of these products were recommended to me by friends and I don’t take that lightly.
Beginner-Friendly Skincare Products
If I had to describe my skin, I would describe it as a combination (of oily and dry) and sensitive.
I currently work out 6x a week, I’m always on the go, and I need products that support my skin.
Masks and yummy-smelling skin care products with heavy fragrances irritated my skin and I had to let those go.
My trouble areas are on the side of my face and cheeks and I was desperate to find a product that got rid of the blackheads, pimples, and dry areas.
A month ago, I reached out to a friend and asked her what clean products she recommended, and let me tell you, I’m forever changed.
Vegan Exfoliator
This product surprised me sis and this is the product my friend I was telling you about recommended to me.
From the moment you squeeze the product into your hands, you will be met with a light plant scent that is directly linked to the bark wood ingredient and it smells so good.
This product feels just like a typical exfoliant and is light, and beady in texture, while scrubbing away any dead skin.
Sis, I’m a fan and I love the way it’s been working for me. My skin will let me know if a product is not working and my skin told me to keep using this product.
Keep freaking using it!
Cleansing Balm As Part of Your Skincare Routine
With nearly perfect ratings, you know I was excited to try this. A dear friend of mine sent me a sample last year and the moment this met contact with my face, I decided to would be keeping this in my skincare rituals.
It’s creamy texture and light scent made me swoon and out of all of the products I tossed to the side over the last month, I made sure to keep this one in my skincare routine.
It’s an investment but using this right after my exfoliator, gives my skin great results.
Toner Pads That Do The Job and That Don’t Intimidate Your Skin
Tula is a new favorite skincare brand of mine. I just started using what I discovered from one of my favorite podcasts that interviewed Sean Garrett.
If you are someone who is adamant about purchasing your products all in one place, go to Tula’s site and take their skincare quiz, I recommend it!
It has 60 thin pads that you use to wipe anything and everything off of your face. I am so happy to finally find a product that effectively wipes the dirt off my face.
For real is, you can tell when a product isn’t doing its job. It’s important to use this lightly against your skin.
On the 3rd day of using this, I scrubbed too hard on my face which resulted in a burning sensation.
I love that this is alcohol-free and gives off a minty smell. Thus, being a refreshing added product and so far so good.
Moisturizer (Another Non-Scary Skincare Item)
This product is perfect for sensitive skin. My only word of advice is to use this sparingly.
One thing to remember with this product is that a little bit goes a very long way and it won’t take you long to feel the difference in your skin when rubbing it in.
Also, It’s a tiny product, about 1.5 ounces but if you apply a dab of it on your face, it’ll last you a very long time.
I’ve had my product for 2 months and there’s plenty left in the container!
All in all, I’m going to give using these products together a full 30 days before I offer an update but like I told you before, my skin is clearing up, and the fact that I found products that don’t burn my skin or leave my skin feeling dry within an hour is something that deserves a round of applause.
What products have you added to your skincare ritual?

I’m interested in the toner pads. I have very sensitive acne-prone skin. and I finally feel like I am slowly getting a handle on that. One of the things I haven’t been able to find is a good toner. I am going to ask my derm about this Tula one. If she gives me the green light, I’m getting it. Thanks for all the wonderful recommendations, sis!
Yes, please do! These toner pads have changed my skin. Particularly, in my chin, sides and nose area.
You are putting me on to so many amazing cruelty free products, thank you queen!
You’re so welcome and thank you for stopping by!
